Help Us Raise the Federal SGA (Substantial Gainful Activity) Limit for Disabled Workers In States with a High Minimum Wage. SSDI recipients are given a limit on how much income they can make from employment and still receive the disability benefits that they need. Some disabled people can hold jobs that work very well with their disabilities. However, some disabled employees get discouraged to try to get or even hold meaningful jobs because of the SGA limit being so low and the state's minimum wage being so high, like in CA (California) for example. The working disabled in CA hit the SGA threshold too quickly to be taken seriously in the career community, or even have a chance to be encouraged to believe they might make it without SSDI. For example, the Federal SGA limit for 2021 is $2,190 per month for blind individuals, and $1,310 for non-blind, while the CA State minimum wage is $14.00 per hour. That means that on average, at 8-hour shifts, they can only work 10 days a month, while in 2008, for example, they were able to work half the month at 15 days! The structure should be getting better, not worse, or at least stay fair! We want to see the disabled population use their voice and show us that the gap between the Federal SSDI limit and the State minimum wage needs improvement! 10 days a month does not qualify the working disabled people for needed medical benefits from employment, and if they work more than that, they may lose their disability benefits altogether and not have the help they need to be able to function at all. If the SGA limit is increased it would provide the Working Disabled Class a better advantage at keeping up with the cost of living such as rent increases, gas prices, utilities, and so much more. During this pandemic, many people are being asked to stay home, thereby increasing the bills at home, while some employers have generously raised wages for essential workers due to such risks. However, people who are disabled and employed are actually being forced to reduce their hours, in order to keep their much-needed disability benefits. The working disabled would like to be treated fairly by continuing their routine of providing the work they have been accustom to, and not be further punished. Not only do they deserve the same fair chances that they had long ago, but they deserve to not be further thwarted by the system. Let's pull together and get this increase for the SGA limit in CA and other high minimum wage paid states

Its totally ridiculous that people are being punished for wanting to work more. Rent in cali is way to high to live on 10 days of pay. This needs to change now.
