Before You Leave: Education for Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking at HCHS
Because we live in a small, rural community, we don't provide high school students with education about domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking. These issues are seeing a rise, especially in the high school and college settings. In order to prevent further victims and understand how to help those who have been affected, we need to be educated.
I have been working on an independent presentation started in September to show the high school that will include many details and facts about these topics. I have worked closely with teachers, a forensic nurse who has come across these victims, and a volunteer at a shelter for victims. I want to include many students and faculty members with speaking parts to turn the slide show into a movie presentation. I want to gain as much support as possible about these important topics.
