The legislature finally passed the bill to increase sentencing for these predators and I am overwhelmed that justice is finally becoming a reality for our children. I never thought I would see the day where these offenders face the time they truly deserve. We must stay vigilant to ensure these …
Currently laws of sentancing in Ohio are not stiff enough to rehabiltate sexually oriented offenders. First time offenders typically receive the minimum sentance which means little time served. Child molesters typically serve 60 months. Rapists serve 51 months. These offenders are warehoused without any rehabilitation programs, and then released to go on with their lives. The current registration laws are easy to get by as weel. They have to register and remain register for 10 years, but nobody checks to make sure the offender stays current on their registration so they couold move and possibly never get caught.
I have been reading every single comment you leave on this page and the stories you share are absolutely haunting. It feels like the current system is designed to let these offenders slip through the cracks while the survivors are left to pick up the pieces alone. I am preparing to hand these names over to our local representatives to demand that they face the reality of these sentencing gaps.

Seeing this level of support reminds me that I am not alone in my anger over how these predators are handled. This momentum proves that people are finally ready to demand real safety for our children.

60 months is a slap in the wrist for what they do to these poor kids. they deserve way more time than that. lock them up for good.

The system is broken. My tax dollars should not be paying to feed these people just so they can get out and do it all over again.
