El Paso Electric is proposing to raise rates in El Paso, Texas, consequently dis-incentivizing solar power in The Sun City. El Paso Electric's proposal will motion to inequitably increment the average residential electric bill in El Paso by $8.41 per month, that translates to an increase of nearly 12 percent; and the average residential solar bill by a substantial $12 per month, translating to nearly 24 percent. This petition appeals to corroborate efforts in equalizing solar with respect to traditional electrical increase rates to re-incentivize, maintaining nonpartisan treatment of solar and non-solar grid applications. The prevention of this potential obstacle to the implementation of solar technology could instead result in a potential increase in number of households installing solar power and ultimately ecological mindfulness.

El Paso Electric thinks they can squeeze us for more cash while killing our solar future. This momentum proves they triggered a nerve and now we have the leverage to force them back to the table.

Living in the sun city and they want to punish us for using the sun?? Makes zero sense to hike the rates on people trying to be responsible.
My bill is already way too high in the summer. EPE needs to stop this greed immediately.
That's crazy, they are getting solar power so it won't be the same price as regular electricity! How about not profiting so much instead.
Yes! Thank you! We already get charged a "summer sur-charge" fee which is price gouging...and it's illegal! I refuse to pay more than I already am!
Ridiculous. We paid a ton of money to get panels put on our roof and now they change the rules??

As a home owner it's unfair we are punished due to the state wanting to make more money off solar homes. Solar homes purpose is economical. This is a greedy expectation.
