Security officers really have got it bad, they dont get lunch breaks, more often than not they work on they're own, they do unsociable hours and most work 48+ hours per WEEK for minimum wage! we are campaigning for fair rights. most workers in the uk get bank holidays, christmas and holiday/sick pay. security staff are lucky if christmas falls on their days off, they are extremely lucky if they get time & half on bank holidays or even - dare i say it?! - a day in leiu! their employers are even reluctant to give them time off for entitled holidays! - because its hard for them to find cover! one security firm in particular has even told their employees not to bother asking for holiday during the christmas period as they will not be allowed it! most people i have spoken to are unaware of how badly treated these people are and its time for change. we are living in modern times and these poor guys are living in the dark ages! we want better pay, to be working in pairs, to have breaktimes during 12hr shifts and to take holiday whenever we want to, not just 11months out of 12 - if we're lucky!
