This petition is to press the Florida Legislators in Tallahassee to refile HB 997 and SB 1322 that would remove the grandfather clause allowing Miami-Dade County to continue their Pit Bull Ban. It is currently illegal for any county or municipality in Florida to enact Breed Specific Legislation or Oridences. Because Miami already had their ban enacted for over a decade the current law has a clause that has allowed the ban to continue in Miami but not spread to other counties. It is imperative that we aide to stop the genocide of bully breeds everywhere and stand together in this cause to end BSL in Florida for good. We believe that every breed should be treated equally and that people who are not adequate dog owners should be reprimanded not the breed as a whole. Our country was built on freedom and it is our duty to free these beautiful creatures from the oppression they face on a daily basis. Good dogs should be able to stay with their family or have the opportunity to be adopted from puppyhood.
The people in Tallahassee are still ignoring our emails while families in Miami continue to lose their dogs to this discriminatory policy. We have been sending direct messages to every legislator who refuses to acknowledge that these breed bans are a failure. They think we will go away quietly but we are far from finished with them.

Every breed should be treated equally. Why should Miami-Dade be allowed to continue their inhumane Pit Bull Ban? Please stop this genocide. Families are being torn apart and good dogs are being killed for no good reason. Please do the right thing and remove the grandfather clause.

Please make the ethical/humane decision but also the right decision for your county as killing is MUCH more expensive than hiring someone to help get the animals out. Please stop breaking up families.

Breed Specific Legislation is not the answer to keep out communities safer. Proper dog ownership education and the proper consequences for being a poor dog owner is what needs to be implemented. We as a community see the false sense of security this matter creates and it is simply not the answer.

As a pitbull owner I know how much love these dogs have to give. I don't think that they should be banned because of what humans FORCE them to do. They are truly beautiful creatures that deserve a fighting chance just like any other breed. BAN BSL

Pits are dogs like any other and such discrimination is cruel and loathsome. Stereotyping should never be considered acceptable no matter what species is involved as it is harmful and dangerous.. Open your minds and hearts and end this ineffective ban.
