Final supporters
We have not had a seaplane qualified DPE in our area in over 10 years. Seaplane training providers, like CFI Academy at Lodi airport are avalaible, but no DPEs.
Neighboring FSDO districts, Fresno, San Jose, Sacramento etc. do not have any seaplane DPES as well.
Simply put, equipment is available, instructors are available, pilots wanting their sepalane ratings are available, and have been for over a decade; missing ONLY a DPE.
We are requesting Oakland FSDO office take this matter as a priority and appoint a seaplane qualified DPE as soon as possible.
Summer 2025 is just around the corner.

Been trying to get my SES done for months but the travel costs are killing me. OAK needs to fix this.
If a DPE cannot be appointed, the FSDO is required to provide the checkride ASI in a timely manner.
DO IT. sick of waiting around for the FSDO to do something.
Please please please! We have a lot of water around here! And enough flying boats! Don't send us to Alaska for rating!
I cannot get a checkride due to the fact that there are no DPE's in the Oakland areas for over a year

its ridiculous that we have to fly out of state just to finish a rating. lets get someone local already.
