We have not had a seaplane qualified DPE in our area in over 10 years. Seaplane training providers, like CFI Academy at Lodi airport are avalaible, but no DPEs.

Neighboring FSDO districts, Fresno, San Jose, Sacramento etc. do not have any seaplane DPES as well.

Simply put, equipment is available, instructors are available, pilots wanting their sepalane ratings are available, and have been for over a decade; missing ONLY a DPE.

We are requesting Oakland FSDO office take this matter as a priority and appoint a seaplane qualified DPE as soon as possible.

Summer 2025 is just around the corner.
