This petition is to have all administrators of the Arizona Humane Society of Phoenix, Arizona removed and/or terminated immediately based on the inhumane and unconscionable actions taken in the case of Scruffy the cat on December 8, 2011. Scruffy had a serious but non-life threatening cut, but was euthanized because the owner did not immediately have the $400 fee to have Scruffy treated. The Humane Society refused to accept a credit card payment over the phone or to wait for the money to be immediately wired and arrive the next day. They told the owner that if he surrendered the cat, the cat would be treated and put up for adoption. The Arizona Humane Society of Phoenix, Arizona misrepresented itself to the owner, and in turn, violated all reasonable humane actions towards animals, creating within its organization a cruel and unusual treatment of Scruffy the cat. It clearly broke the law in not fully disclosing the possibility of Scruffy's euthanization so that the owner/human could choose to take Scruffy elsewhere so that humane treatment could be afforded the cat. The actions of this Humane Society were clearly unconscionable. The story was broken by the Allied Press and can be referenced there or by Scruffy's facebook page.
