A Part 8 traffic plan has been imposed by the council without consultation with city residents. This is a regressive step which will cause grid-lock to the ancient narrow streets of our city.
The concern regarding the proposed traffic layout continues to grow among our residents. I am currently preparing a formal submission to the council to ensure these arguments are documented in the official record.

this is the nuttiest plan ever. If the Apple Market is anything to go by, it will be a disaster.

Long term inner city residents need to be considered in this plan. We have asked for revisions & have been ignored. Too much consideration has been given to a low number of cyclists ( versus all others using the inner city) & reducing city road widths to accomodate same. Existing inner city shops/traders & businesses who have keep the town going through this recession have been virtually ignored. Absolutely shameful. The plan needs to be revised.

All 32 local councillors betrayed inner city residents by not consulting them before voting for the part 8 traffic plan. A Part 8 planning process is the only area in planning which councillors vote can on. It's normal for local councillors, especially the ward elected representatives, to organise public meetings to explain what's planned and seek directions from their constituents before they vote on a Part 8. Instead, here the councillors backed the council suits n planners as well as official Waterford and put the interests of developers profits ahead of local people. Shameful.

Good day, the traffic and congestion from ferrybank, all the way down the Quay, Newtown is an absolute embarrassment. I had visitors from Dublin who said rush hour in Dublin would be an improvement and they will stay in either Kilkenny or Wexford in future as they want to get away from sitting in traffic queues. If this is to facilitate pedestrians and cyclists the. Surely pedestrian crossings and instead of widening footpaths and decreasing lanes there was ample room to have originally included a cycle lane and been able to keep traffic moving. The city is ruined!

As it stands waterford traffic is horrendous due to badly thought out and implemented narrowing of roads, mainly the quay, absurd roundabouts and ridiculous amounts of traffic lights that hinder rather than help. No more. The ppl of this city pay tax and we should have a say in how it is used.
