Such an awful decision for the council to. Take this decision, it will affect local businesses and local people so much.

I live on the south coast but travel up to Barry every year to enjoy the fishing and scenery. Barry in particular is a nightmare with permit parking. The only saving grace for me was the free parking on cold knapp that allowed me a base for the night. I therefore hope that your intent to introduce parking charges here and in other areas is stopped. Just another money making exercise in my opinion

Being from Pontypridd, I am a regular visitor to Barry and it's surrounding area on my fishing trips. As I'm getting older, I need to be more selective in my choice of venue. These parking charges are further limiting where I can go ad I am not paid a huge wage and simply cannot afford these extra costs. As a result, Holton Road Angling won't have as much custom from me. The cafes and takeaway that I have used won't see me anymore. Excellent job by Barry council. Hike up the charges and drive away the trade. I applaud your efforts

100% disagree with the plan to bring charges to parking on the streets of barry island. If you want to stay for longer than 2 hours there are already car parks where you can pay for that, but a quick visit and a dog walk for barry residents, the free parking is absolutely vital and it will definitely put me off visiting.

It saddens me that the world has become so greedy, wanting to start charging people to come to a place that’s always been their “safe place / sanctuary” to reset from personal struggles. Please rethink your actions re pay stations. This will be so damaging to a community.

As someone who frequently visits Barry Island, I believe this decision will: Limit my ability to visit and enjoy the area. Deter visitors, affecting local businesses that rely on regular footfall. Add unnecessary financial burden on residents who already contribute through council taxes. It is deeply disappointing that the same individuals who opposed such charges in 2019 are now advocating for them. This reversal undermines trust in local governance. This money grabbing scheme will have such a negative effect on businesses and locals, especially those who take children and dogs to the beach daily for fresh air and exercise. Many will be put off going. Either they will go somewhere else or just not bother going at all. If I have to pay to park, I will just drive in and go somewhere else. I won't be popping there for a quick coffee or a bag of chips.
