Why do it in the first place?

On busy days you usually have to pay - so I take a lot of joy in coming on quiet days for a walk and coffee. Having to pay for parking would deter me, I'd probably go to cardiff or Penarth instead...

this is an unnecessary change that doesn't need to happen

Obviously this is ridiculously unfair and shouldn’t have ever been considered.

No ..it will put too much pressure on Marine Parade which is already at capacity..lots of aggressive arguments break out over parking there

during a cost of living crisis we can’t afford to pay more than is already asked of us

Appalling proposal, will limit visitors to the island which will affect the economy.

Extra hurdles to prevent people enjoying our beautiful surroundings. Targets the genuine people.

We recently visited car park at knap. As we arrived many pensioners were parking in order to take some exercise but cannot walk too far. Ridiculous to charge. I already pay ridiculous rate charges.

Charging for parking on the streets will prevent many of the lifeguards and volunteers that help keep our beaches having easier access to their place of work. This can only have a negative impact on tourism and give another feeling of dissatisfaction to the Council. Promoting healthier lifestyles means people can go for walks in Barry asking them to pay then add insult and shows a lack of compassion.

This smacks as an easy cash grab. The Knap and Island should be protected to encourage easy access for (especially) short term parking for fitness and mental well being. What next? Turn Porthkerry Park meadow into a Car Park… oh hang on. You already tried that…..

Free parking is essential to allow people to keep visiting the Island for leisure activities and supporting businesses.

Will have huge consequences for the communities who use Barry Island for leisure and pleasure impacting on local businesses who rely on the trade for their livelihood

I’m a pensioner and I walk my dogs every day for around an hour, frequently at the Knap and at Barry Island. There are so few places to let dogs run safely and I understand that 5 times a week would cost me £12.50.
