Scrap proposed on Street parking charges at Barry Island.

It is hard enough for local businesses to thrive. We are in a cost of living crisis. What about the neurodiverse or those with mental health who want to benefit from these spaces but can't manage public transport, or need a space (vehicle) to return to when it becomes crowded or overwhelming. This is just making the Vale increasingly inaccessible to those unable to afford it or those with underlying needs. Businesses will suffer as people will travel elsewhere, so it isn't even going to fulfil to purpose objective it is looking to achieve.

This will hit Barry island businesses hard! Should firstly look at improving the frequency of regular buses to and from the island 7 days a week and run later into the evening.

The council seems determined to close down Barry altogether. What the ridiculous 20mph limit started will now be completed by this measure. Look at the number of new houses built in recent years, all paying council tax and yet amenities are curtailed.

The council seem determined to kill off Barry Island and the town centre.

As a member of Barry War Museum and Heritage Centre I can see this will have a Negative effect for us and other traders.

We go to Barry island it's a special place for my family we like Barry because it's FREE to park if we had to pay for car parking whilst visiting we simply WOULD NOT go to Barry island this would impact on finances we always use the shops arcades eating places etc also our dog as he can go on the beach at certain times but if we had to pay for CAR PARKING we would NOT go to Barry island anymore.

This will change residents ability and motivation to be able to visit the beach even for daily visits. Deterring and making it less accessible will inhibit people’s mobility and possibly mental health later on, it doesn’t need to be paid for there are already car parks and it hasn’t been paid for, not made any issues

As part of a local lifeguards club, training young children on Barry Island beach weekly in the spring & summer months this will impact on our sessions & retaining the great families we have in the club. The 2 hr free parking is ideal for the time of the sessions we run.

i believe there would be a massive impact on the way people will view barry island if we keep the car parks free. As barry is a loved place by all of wales and many people would be disappointed and hesitant to visit. Also there are many people who would love to take their family on a day out but will be disappointed if they do not have enough money. please take these valid points into consideration. thank you

This would be disastrous for Barry both commercially and for residents and visitors. Very shortsighted and also prevents older people using these places and those on lower income. Appalling and detrimental.

The local authority should be encouraging tourism and trade, this will undoubtedly damage both.
