Leave free on road parking or you’ll kill off the island to locals

What we have been accustomed to expect from this money robbing Labour Council. Put the poor into even more debt they should be ashamed of themselves

Please keep these beautiful spaces accessible to locals. Daily walks with the family will become unaffordable if you remove the 2 hour free parking spaces and charge for all.

I appreciate councils need to raise revenue. My concern is for the impact on local businesses during the winter months. To mitigate this, the council should consider applying charges during winter months only.

I strongly disagree with the proposed parking charges at Barry Island and the proposed closure of the multi storey car park in Barry Town.

Think the new charging proposal is going to harm businesses, and are extortion for the people of Barry

Wow why are you doing this? There are far more indicative ways of finding monies within the Vale (or even WAG) stop hitting the little man each time. Look closer at council structures and outside contractors

The council are taking every opportunity to drain more money out local residents and visitors to the town. And are providing less and less services. They should work to benefit the community. Or they will just turn Barry to a shadow of it's former self.

As a local resident who uses the beach for dog walks during the winter, I think it is absolutely ridiculous to charge a local council tax payer, again.

I strongly disagree with charges for parking on the Island streets and also strongly disagree with the proposed Knap car park charges being introduced - we pay enough tax and it's lovely to see elderly people getting out and watching the waves from the comfort of their cars. I love walking my dog nearby but I won't be able to do so if these charges are introduced! Claiming they are for beach cleans is ridiculous because the amount of waste and sewage that sullies the beaches and waters nearby is ridiculous.

Traders work hard all year round to keep their business. It will stop people coming to the area that will see businesses closing. Current parking seems to work so why change it??!!

why prohibit the daily meeting of friends or a brief walk - essential ingredients for maintaining mental health.

This proposal I fear is DEFINATLY going ahead . I do not agree with it . I live in Barry but too far away to walk to the Island . I am so disappointed as it will now be too expensive for me to just pop down for an hour to buy a coffee and have a lovely walk ..just too costly for me . And I'm sure this will apply to many many local residents costing the businesses down at the island dearly .

As a resident on Amherst Cres I have seen a significant rise in parking on roads which are town side of Plymouth Rd since the resident bays were established. This is leading to dangerous parking on corners in an area where there are 2 parks, a school and local shops. Enforcing parking charges will do one or both of 2 things. It will cost Barry Island traders and the wider community hugely. Local traders rely on local trade through the winter months. Families who “pop over” after school, elderly folk whose families bring them over to see the sea and have a cuppa, dog walkers and so on. Without the trade the traders will leave and then in summer our visitors who bring a significant amount of money in will find the resort does not meet their needs. Dangerous parking will also increase and it is a matter of time before someone, probably a child, is hurt or worse because there is no where safe to cross the road.
