Scrap proposed on Street parking charges at Barry Island.

I strongly oppose the introduction of on-street parking charges at Barry Island. These charges will discourage visitors, negatively impact local businesses, and put extra pressure on nearby residential streets. Barry Island thrives on tourism and accessibility, and free parking is essential to keeping it welcoming and affordable for families. Please scrap these unfair charges and support our community.

It is the local residents mainly pensioners who keep the businesses at Barry Island and the Knap trading off- season. It’s unreasonable to charge parking fees, I understand that we have the option to purchase a Parking Permit /Parking Season Ticket, however that is an expense that many can do without, we already pay an excessive amount in Council Tax.

Ridiculous decision

I am against these charges. I cannot afford the cost when I need to visit my elderly mother as her main carer.

This council is isolating and killing not only the Island but Barry in general. Short sighted and only looking for ways to make money from fees and fines! Cutting their own throat.

What an absolutely bonkers idea. When Barry finally ceases to be an industrial town we must become an overtaxed dormitory of Cardiff? Tourists will pay for car parking but locals, already paying through the nose with council tax won’t be paying, they will go elsewhere . Ghost town ? Yes!

Council should have a wage cut if they need money. They seem determined to kill Barry

Give local businesses a chance…don’t introduce parking charges

The traders and the folk from Barry & Penarth do not want these charges forced upon visitors and local people alike. Start listening Vale of Glamorgan Council.

I oppose this on grounds of failure to consult and listen to the people who pay your wages.
