We should not allow our community sidewalks and streets to be an amusement ride business. Scooters are dangerous for pedestrians and riders. It is impossible to keep riders off sidewalks - they do not know or follow rules.

Live by the bay. Some guy on one tried splitting me on my skateboard and a biker on the other side brushed me and almost hit my girlfireiend. They also litter the sidewalk where I need to get off my board to go around

I'm sick and tired of scooters being left wherever. Inconsiderate people, of which there are many, just leave blocking sidewalks for pedestrians, those in wheelchairs, the elderly & the vision impaired. They are breaking numerous laws including riding on the sidewalks, no helmets, more than one person on a scooter, children on scooters and renting more than one scooter to allow children to use them. None of the people riding them have been given any training. Many of the riders are not very good or outright poor riders endangering themselves and more importantly other people. There are a lot of people riding them intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Especially at the beaches and the Gaslamp District. Did anyone think of the actual reality of how scooters would be used? I have seen numerous crashes at the beaches and downtown and the scooter companies or those companies who own them especially Uber and Lyft should be held responsible for any and all litigation.

Ban them totally or risk huge liability when more people are injured or killed on/by them. Vote out of office our pathetic city politicians, except Barbara Bry, the only city council member who understands this important issue.

Why is the city government donating public land so that those companies make a profit? We tax payers pay for the land and it’s maintenance and we shouldn’t be giving it away to businesses. Corrals are placed in no parking zones. Cars cannot park there and so why can scooters park there?

They are a menace! They block street crossings and people are tripping over them especially at night… They are dangerous and no one seems to pick them up!

The scooter issue is getting worse. I see many young children riding in the front of the scooters with their parents or on their own scooters (well under age 16). There appears to be no monitoring and enforcement of scooter rules or safety, nor any common sense by parents! This will lead to more injuries and more deaths.

The number one priority of our so called "public servants is (should be) the public health and safety. Sadly, with some of our politicians(Faulkner, Gloria, Sherman et.al.) public health and safety in not even on their radar. If you continue to vote for people of their ilk, the problem is you.

Scooters can be dangerous for walkers, mostly children and older people. Scooters take away from the beauty and peace of wonderful La Jolla because we have to watch out not to be hit by one of them rather than enjoy the landscape. Scooters create disorder because they are often randomly abandoned on the side of the street. Scooters are not allowed in upgrade protected areas, why are they allowed in beautiful La Jolla? Scooters are not beautiful. They have nothing to contribute to the Beauty of La Jolla.

These scooters are a for-profit, private initiative that do not provide community resident benefit. They should not be encouraged nor supported by our public institutions and should not be granted special privileges to use public space.
