San Diego Scooter Ban

They are dangerous. The users do not abide by any laws or ordinances.

BAN COMPLETELY OR ONLY OFFER THEM IF THEY ARE PART OF STORE FRONT, WHERE THEY ARE OFF THE STREETS WHEN THE BUSINESS CLOSES.

I was hit from the back and knocked down on a sidewalk by two people riding double on a BIRD scooter in Pacific Beach. They just got up and kept on going without even saying sorry.

Agreed; they are terrible. They make the beaches and the city a junkyard. Also they're dangerous to both drivers and pedestrians, as well as to the often clueless and so-called "entitled" riders, who almost never obey traffic laws.

Scooters litter our sidewalks and yards these days. Ban them as they are not being maintained as promised by the companies supplying them.

Great idea, bad implementation, too many of them, dangerous and makes our communities look terrible. The expirament is over.

Scooters are causing many problems and clogging corners and streets and making it difficulty for pedestrians and cars to avoid them.

No comment necessary when you've seen the results of having these scooters on the scene.

Scooters can be useful in some locations. So total ban is not the right answer. The riders boldly ignore the rules and do not use common sense or exercise courtesy. We have parking enforcement for cars, we need scooter rules enforcement. Such a group of police would pay for itself in fines. In fact, it will likely change behavior and provide revenue to pay for other safety improvements.

We will be just fine without them.

I cannot count how many times I've pulled out of my driveway only to nearly hit scooters speeding recklessly down the road, as well as how many times I've picked up dumped scooters off the sidewalk so that I could simply continue walking on the sidewalk near my home. I often think of the elderly and/or wheelchair-bound folks that cannot even use sidewalks in town anymore because of the obstacle course of scooters. Btw what are the helmet laws for scooters? What if they were required for scooter and bike use?

It's nice to see others feel like I do about the proliferation of scooters and that someone is doing something about it. Bravo.

Scooters require far more regulatory oversite, private sector stewardship in light of the dangers, and community support; without these pieces all working in tandem, many more people will get hurt, lose their lives, and produce nothing but hardship.

I live in PB. Without exception, every time I walk my dog I have to move scooters that are blocking the sidewalks and curb cut aways. The new scooter law is not worth the paper it is printed on. For the most part our City Council is clueless. I welcome the opportunity to talk to any or all of our City leaders.

Have been more than 230,000 accidents w/ scooters (city council guy)...and when left across curbs, they are so dangerous and in the way...ban them!!!!

They make our beach look like a garbage dump. They are dangerous.
