Final supporters
This petition is being circulated to a select few because we feel that our town, Brookfield Ct., has the responsibility to make our parents, children and school staff FEEL SAFE. Similiar actions have already taken place in neighboring towns such as: Monroe, Ridgefield, Danbury and Redding, among many others. We owe this to our new 26 Angels in Heaven, to do our best to protect our children and schools.
Description of School Resource Officer:
Parents need to know that SRO's are NOT just "cops" on campus. The SRO has special training (National Association of School Resource Officers) to work in schools with children. The SRO " becomes involved in the students' lives as a positive role model. The SRO position encompasses three major components: education, counseling and law enforcement." The SRO's job is very different in elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. We, of course, want to preserve the quality of education in the Brookfield Public Schools, while still adding an important layer of safety, counseling, and education for our children. The cost for four SRO's, is 1% of the Town's Budget.

Knowing there is a trained professional in the building would put my mind at ease every morning.
Every other town around here already did it. Why are we so far behind?
Finally. Its scary thinking about what could happen. We cant wait for another tragedy to realize we need protection.
Good idea. SROs are great mentors for the kids too not just for security.
YES. DO IT NOW. brookfield needs to step up and stop dragging our feet on this.
