On June 26th, 2013 City Council held a meeting to address issues raised by members of the society related to the impact of alcohol consumption by patrons on the City of Encinitas. Although this meeting was a public event, the peoples representation was very one sided and not a true representation of the diversity of people we have in Encinitas. The outcome of this meeting however, if passed, will impact every restaurant, bar and patron in the City of Encinitas. The City Council has proposed, amongst other things, to implement a curfew for any restaurant and bar mandating that they close their doors for service at midnight. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION IF YOU'RE AGAINST THE CITY COUNSIL'S PROPOSALS: · Require all bars and restaurants to close by midnight · Enact a temporary moratorium on any new alcohol serving establishments · Develop policies to restrict party buses from parking and running their engines while parked · Use existing land use authority to the maximum - bring major use and minor use permits to the Planning Commission and possibly to the Council for review and decision · Develop a "deemed approved" ordinance with impact fees for Council consideration.
