Please sign this petition in opposition of the proposed shooting range on Retro Hughes Road, Sale Creek Tennessee. The proposed range would be approximately less than 0.5 miles from the Justin P. Wilson Cumberland Trail State Park (Possum Creek Gorge section).
The nearby land and home owners are concerned the loud noise from the high powered rifles could negatively affect ecotourism to the Tennessee State Park. Nearby landowners are also concerned the spent lead ammunition could contaminate the nearby creeks including, Clemons Creek. Thus, negatively affecting the water supply for property owners and wildlife.
There is already an existing gun range 20 minutes from the proposed shooting range. It is important to know we support gun rights and shooting ranges. However, this shooting range could negatively affect this majestic state park and nearby land owners.
The Hamilton County Commissioner planning meeting on March 14, 2016 will decided on the permit for the proposed shooting range.

One hundred people have stepped up to stop this reckless shooting range from ruining our state park. The Hamilton County Commissioners are trying to ignore us but this list proves they cannot pretend we do not exist.

We are grinding toward one hundred signatures but we need a final push right now to get this in front of the Hamilton County Commissioners. Do not let these bureaucrats think for a second that we are going to let them poison our water and ruin our park without a fight.

Most of life is filled with noise, clutter, and unwanted intrusions. It is difficult to find quiet natural spaces where we can refresh and renew. Nothing spoils a nature hike like continuous gun fire.
Gun ranges should be kept indoors. Neighbors of an outdoor range (even if fairly far away) will never have a moment of peace from the noise. Property values will be wiped out. Neighbors will no longer be able to enjoy being outside on beautiful days, Lead contamination will be possible if not likely.
There is already a shooting range along 27 only a 10 minute drive from this location. There is no need for another shooting range next to the state park. It is completely unnecessary and will ruin the pristine feel of the Cumberland state park trails.
I am anavid shooter but I hate the noise of guns. I respect peace and quiet and there is no reason to build yet another range when the current ones on present day WMAs should suffice. This range borders on insolence and flat out disregard of the trail system in place, etc.
I love spending time in this beautiful area on a regular basis. There are always wildlife encounters, be it wild turkeys or huge bucks crossing the road. The area is quiet, scenic, and a break from the city. Don't let them demolish this pristine paradise and violate the area with noise pollution!

My wife and I have 4 precious grandchildren that live on Bakewell mountain on Retro Hughes Road. I can't imagine how constant gunshots would traumatize them, endanger their lives, and severely limit their ability to run around in the woods where their family lives peacefully on 40 acres of land.
