Not a good fit for Mason City.. Way too much offered to Prestage with way too much unknown for Mason City's air, water and school systems quality!!!! Much more research needed. We can do better!!!!

Thank you for the NO votes! What is it about the "NO" votes are people struggling to understand...A do do over is just not right . You can't keep voting till the few apparently making money on this deal get the result they desire...this has has been a shady rush deal from the get go...What are these people trying to hide....Sham politics at its finest...Refer Prestage to an area they are wanted like Worth County!

This is an important issue: Mason City and the surrounding area cannot handle this large of an influx of people in so short of time, and it would be unable to handle the effects on the school systems and infrastructure. Greater diversity within our population would be great, but this rural area would be unable to reasonably handle this large of an influx - inclusive of the fact that there is the significant issue of the shortage of real estate/housing, and the inability of medical and social services to handle this amount of people added to the local population. Medical, social services, and police have difficulty keeping up with the status quo as it is now. Last but not least, there is the issue of pollution and the cost to the taxpayers for infrastructure enhancement and additional taxes to pay for additional costs to the school systems (for more students who speak so many languages). The main people that want this to come, are retailers, restaurants, and real estate companies.

I will be living 1 mile to the north of this plant , very concerned about what it's going to do to the value of my house. I liked the south part of town that's why I bought my house here 17 years ago. . I feel this part of town is going to end up like the north end of Mason City. . I want to be able to sit outside in the summer and enjoy the weather in the summer.! I'm worried about the flies and the spray they say they're going to use to kill them with , what's that going to do to me and my family . And the smell , I understand there will be some smell and being a mile away it'll probably be strong. . And in 10 years will he still be there, is there any guarantees of that? and how much of the environment will be destroyed in ten years.. I feel this town financially cannot support this .

Please stay with no to prestige. May 3rd globe gazette had a good article on people not wanting flood of people into their communities. School can not handle it especially with firing of superintendent!!!!!

Iowa needs humane animal processing operations far far distant from towns and cities. Please oppose nearby slaughterhouse and confinement operations.

Prestage Farms is not a good fit for Mason City Iowa. In fact I don't want Prestage anywhere in Iowa at all. Iowas agricultural resources and land is worth far too much to risk contaminating in such a destructive way with any sort of kill facility. Anyone willing to put our resources in Iowa at risk have no right to be in position to making such decisions in the first place because that's where the states wealth comes from in the first place. Ruin the land and water systems anywhere in Iowa and you basically render all of Iowa worthless.

Roland Nelson. I am also asking that we do not address the issue of Prestage coming to Mason City. This has been voted on and turned down. If we all work together we will find the right fit for Mason City and till that time we have great tourism started. Let us continue to work on that.

Do not let the wisdom and energy of all to dissipate in the wake of time. Honor democracy. Please honor your "no" votes on the Prestage project. Mason City and all of North Iowa deserve sustainable and healthy growth. Prestage's environmental record in North Carolina should be a red flag warning. Please don't ignore their past practices in determining your futures.
The American Humane Society has just formed a national agricultural advisory council.
"HSUS says the council is made up of family farmers and agriculturalists across the U.S. who will serve to advise the organization on national agriculture issues, build alliances with farmers and ranchers who oppose inhumane factory farming practices and help practicing farmers who are good stewards of their land and animals."
