The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers or PARCC exam is a new standardized test that is more rigorous than other standardized tests and is supposed to create better students. However, this is an unfunded exam that is to be taken by students multiple times a year. Students lose valuable time in the classroom to prepare for this exam on top of having to take all of their other exams, finals and preparing for college. Time in the classroom needs to be spent on learning, not just preparing for an exam that doesn't even help them get into college. One test determines if a student gets a high school diploma or not. School is about education, not test scores.

The weight of this push is starting to feel heavy but seeing this level of momentum keeps me focused on the goal. It is exhausting to fight a system that refuses to listen to our concerns, yet your presence here tells me I do not have to carry this alone.

I agree that test grades should not be the main factor to tell if a student is smart. They are too heavily relied on and often discourage students who learn at a different pace or who do not test well. More factors should determine a student's knowledge on a particular subject.

THESE TESTS ARE A JOKE. Stop wasting our tax money and let teachers just teach for once.

My kid comes home crying because of the stress. This test is way to hard and it does nothing to help them learn in the long run.

It's unnecessary and a stress on students who need to be using that time for more important tasks. If it's not there to help you, it shouldn't be there at all.

Having a child in special education, I am against the PARCC exam. The PARCC exam does not take into account that there are children who work and learn differently, my child being one of them. This kind of testing causes her so much anxiety and stress that it affects her performance. Children are not robots. Children are individuals who should NOT be measured by a test that seems to include subjects they have not studied in the classroom. It is a waste of time and money for the children and for the teachers and I find the connection with PARCC testing and the governor highly suspicious. Meaning, I believe we are torturing children with unnecessary testing simply because there is financial gain for a higher-up . It is especially shameful the way the governor and her cohorts have no interest in listening to the teachers and parents. She claims to be interested but her action, or lack there of, show otherwise. It is especially shameful that those who stand up against her risk becoming targets for harassment.
