Students all over the country are being forced to take standardized test in order to “showcase their intelligence” and “knowledge of the subjects”. We believe that these tests are ridiculous and invalid. They make students believe that their worth lies within a number. The state creates these mind games that take an insane amount of stamina that is near impossible for any student to master. These tests have no way of actually showcasing a students intelligence because, each student is different and demonstrates their knowledge in their own way. Some students have test anxiety making it extremely difficult to focus during an exam. Other students may simply just not be good test takers. These tests create stress among students in more ways than one. The test counts for about 20% of a students overall class grade, and if they do not get a sufficient enough score then their grade will drop, potentially dropping their GPA. Also a student may be bullied if their score isn't as high as everyone else's. Not only does testing negatively affect students, but teachers as well. How well a student does on a standardized test reflects on a teachers capability to produce well educated students. This creates mass amounts stress over increasing student scoring. Also some teachers feel they have to dilute their creativity because, they are required to teach to the test. Our goal is to revoke the power/abolish standardized testing for students and teachers alike. If you have the same beliefs as us then stand with us and show your support.

ive been reading through all the stories people are leaving in the comments and it is heartbreaking to see how much stress this puts on both students and teachers. it is clear that we have to keep pushing because the current system is failing everyone involved.

this is getting way more traction than i ever imagined and it shows just how many of us are totally over these tests. honestly its wild to see so many people feeling the same stress and burnout. lets keep this energy going because the people in charge need to hear us loud and clear.

There has to be testing of some kind but perhaps we can come up with a better testing standard.
This deserves to be put in effect because the grading of these tests could effect some kids dreams to go to college
That’s exactly what I was going to write. This system works fine as it is. People GIVE themselves anxiety because they know that it’s a test and it’s a whole twenty percent of your grade. I’ve never had testing anxiety because if you stress over a test you are going to fail it or do bad because you second guess or give up. Instead of seeing the tests as something bad, why don’t you gains more positive attitude about it and don’t worry about the test. After all, you WERE supposed to learn everything taught in the class so there should be no reason to do bad.
Going off of what Destiny said what alternative do you want then? No I don't agree wholeheartedly with how this system works. But you're not providing a better one. Standardized tests ask specific questions based on the specific curriculum given to teachers. It does provide a close to accurate number on how well you've mastered the topic regardless of how well of a test taker you are. You know all those testing tips and suggestions the school and your teachers make? Ask anyone who's a "Good test taker" and they've probably paid 0 attention to those. So if the system really is such crap please come up with a better one.
I am truly pushing more for a reduction of testing. We will still have some testing but, not as long and challenging. I believe that no student can master a standardized test and that many of the grading/actual tests are unfair. So all in all pushing for more of a fair test. If the testing ends all together I believe it should be up to a teacher to create their own assignment for their students. These teachers know each of their students and can create a challenge that best fits them as an individual.

You people know this isn't gonna do anything right? You are putting false hope into an online petition that will ultimately do nothing to stop the Board of Education. I'll still sign though cause tests are stupid.

What do you expect we do to showcase our knowledge of the subjects we have learned in that semester then?
