The petition of the undersigned, CONCERNED MARPOLE RESIDENTS, of the CITY OF VANCOUVER, BC. states that: OPPOSITION TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE TEMPORARY MODULAR HOUSING PROJECT LOCATED AT THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF 650 W 57TH AVE VANCOUVER, BC.
The petitioners respectfully request that the Mayor and Council ORDER THE IMMEDIATE TERMINATION OF THE PROPOSED PLAN AND RELOCATE THE PROJECT TO AN ALTERNATIVE SUITABLE SITE THAT IS NOT IN THE PROXIMITY TO SCHOOL ZONES.

I am for subsidized housing and realize there is a need in this city, however having it right next to a elementary & high school is outrageous. This means they will be exposed to drugs and needles etc we don't need this next to our children's school.
Why this project is pushed through so quickly without consultation while other location's shelter or low cost housing projects eg at little mountain moved slowly over many years. Lots of land there. Marpole should not be Robinson's door mat.
Terrible location, no consultation, force implementation with little notice. Poor access and transportation for the homeless, why not along Cambie, Pangaea golf course that the City want to develop. It will be closer to Canada line, they have easy access.
As a new mother I don't want my child to be exposed to crack pipes and needles on the ground when he is playing. Putting modular housing directly across from an elementary school, tennis courts, and across the street from a high school is poor city planning.
Not only from a perspective from a resident in marple area, but also try to think from people who are going to stay in the Centre, do they really want to live in this area? Is it convenient to commute from where they like to go? Will they feel confortable?
The current city planning going on in Vancouver is abominable, with zero thought being given to maintaining the existing communities. A project like this makes no sense next to a school. Officials must be held accountable for their poor decision making! Do not allow this to continue!!

Our community deserves the right to be consulted before such a dramatic change is introduced to an area with so many schools and a community centre. There is also a centre that cares for severely disabled in that area. No thought has been put into this!!!!
