Dear Mr. Roberson and Vancouver City Councillors,
Please reconsider the proposed rezoning application for 375 West 59th Ave., Vancouver, B.C. As residents living near and around 375 West 59th Ave., we feel the proposed rezoning design is unacceptable. It is too dense a
development at 6 and a half floors and offers too many parking stalls at 229. West 59th Ave. is a heavily used bike and walking route for children and youth going to and from either Sexsmith or Churchhill School. This street is also already busy as a shortcut to Cambie or Main St.and is frequently used to access the park on 59th Ave. The proposed development has no architectural context in this neighborhood. The design is a very modern glass and concrete structure and doesn't suit the existing neighborhood of mainly detached homes and 3-4 level town homes. We ask you to please reconsider and make necessary changes to this design-for safety reasons and for the development of a more cohesive, inclusive neighborhood. Please show that you are listening to the citizens and voters of Vancouver.

I have spent hours watching the traffic patterns on our street this week and the danger to children walking to school is even more obvious than I realized. The city is still ignoring our emails but your comments continue to prove that this neighborhood is not willing to accept a design that puts our kids at risk.

Seeing so many neighbors speak up about the safety of our children on 59th Avenue confirms that I am not the only one deeply worried about this project. The momentum behind our fight to preserve the character of our street is growing faster than I ever imagined.

West 59th is the North Arm bike trail, has a park and school and is a quiet neighbourhood street. Any rezoning and building should reflect the current architecture and characteristics of this neighbourhood and street. This structure would be better suited to Cambie or another major thoroughfare.
The park and 59th Ave are heavily used providing all a safe place to exercise and enjoy the outdoors. However with the extreme densification and especially the proposed rezoning application for 375 West 59th Ave will take all this away and we may see more unfortunate accidents.
It's such a tragedy that the City Hall is so addicted to development permits and has no regard for community and neighbourhood. Once again, this project is way too large and completely disregards bike lanes, school and a generally quiet neighbourhood. There will be hundreds of more cars, considerably more pollution, noise and probably more accidents. This does NOT represent neighbourhood but unfortunately, no one is qualified at City Hall to understand this...shame shame..Vancouver has been destroyed once again for the advancement of foreign investment. Vancouver is ANTI community.
I support this proposed rezoning application one hundred and ten percent.
We are of the opinion that the proposed development in the middle of a residential neighbourhood will detract from the sense of openness and does not add anything to the gentrification of the area. We have single family homes, townhouses and a split 4 story split condo townhouse adjacent to this proposed development and find that the height of the proposed building and its density and being 1 and 2 bedroom units is not what fits with the current residential area. The proposed complex backs up to the most westerly side of our townhouse. Our biggest concern will be the blocking of natural sunlight, sightlines and adversely affect our privacy. We do believe that having such a large development adjacent to our townhouse complex will detract from the overall serenity in the neighbourhood. We enjoy our landscaped garden having family gatherings dinners and privacy, which will be impacted by the new residents looking down into our garden and bedrooms. Would council consider having the development 15-18 feet away instead of the proposed 10 feet, In addition having the proposed building on the westerly side of our complex, begin at say 3 stories high and terraced up to a maximum of 5 stories, thereby allowing more natural light and more privacy in our backyards and townhouse
Please reconsider this development to something more suitable for this neighborhood.
This development doesn't make sense for this neighborhood.

I do not think the the types of the buildings proposed are matching with the existing neighborhood residences around that lot. It would make more sense to add the buildings like Townhouses & low rise condos instead.
