This petition has been created in protest to the large Tesco development that is being proposed to be built at Bradley Mill in Little Lever (Where Penine Pet Products used to be). Initial thoughts are about the impact on local businesses, just by the proposed location will mean less passing trade and people walking through the village centre. The fears are that we will be left with rows of unsightly boarded up shops, with local employment being left at risk. Following the overwhelming support of local residents and business people, it is evident that the objections to this development are much wider than this. A major concern is around the excess traffic that will be brought into the small area on already conjested streets (and the pollution that goes with this), the impact on the community spirit, risk of compulsory purchase and house price crashes for those in the direct vacinity of the location. Others have concerns about the risk of the development inviting anti social behaviour, loitering, alcohol misuse, further to excess waste and infestation, light and noise pollution. It is for all these reasons that I hope that you all agree sign this petition and 'Save Our Village'

Little Lever is already gridlocked every single morning. We dont need another massive supermarket causing more traffic right in the middle of our village. Leave our shops alone!
