The one percentage point increase in the Cook County IL sales tax suggested by President Preckwinkle will hurt businesses and consumers alike. We urge all of the commissioners in Cook County to vote NO to the sales tax hike and look for other solutions outside of a sales or property tax increase to restore the County's fiscal health.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that people are feeling the exact same pressure I am. It is exhausting to keep fighting against these constant tax hikes but your support gives me the fuel to keep pushing forward.

This will drive business out of Cook County and will hurt the poorest people. I for one instead of going to Costco in North Riverside to buy pop will go to Costco in Oak Brook!

Pres. Preckwinkle, I know from personal experience that every Cook County office could be made much more efficient. Let's cut spending on County administration before raising taxes that you yourself campaigned to repeal.

Dear Cook County (and IL as a whole), as a tax payer and business owner, I demand you balance your budget, cut costs and streamline your staff instead of raising taxes. If I don't balance MY budget, my business closes and I demand the same from my government.

This is NOT the answer to budget wow's and years of spending that exceeds revenues!!! The consumers won't loose, they will just continue to take business to neighboring Counties and States... this is not good for local businesses or even local jobs!!!

Waste, fraud and abuse are easy targets for places to cut. Too many jobs under the County are still overpaid patronage positions. Sales taxes are too regressive. Both people and small businesses are hurt by them.

ms. preckwinkle You ran in a platform to Repeal the sales tax saying it was a job killer and now you want to raise it? Cook county needs to focus on real reform to pensions NOT to keeping dipping into the pockets of small business and job creators

No one can tell me or my family what We can/cannot eat or punish us for it! Especially no New York politician who couldn't even get it passed in his own city.

I will be the one to decide what goes into my family's body as well as my own. I do not drink a lot of soda, but once in awhile enjoy flavored water and I have to pay a tax on that!!!! For our health, bull, is all about the money. In my line of work, I am at various courthouses in Cook County and have to wait in line and watch people just sitting at their desks, doing there nails or trying to look busy and when they do have to help they are so rude, get rid of some of that waste!!!!
