what a crazy idea closing that turning, you councillors for Sunderland so nothing for Newbottle other than sell land to build houses and NOW close this junction!!!!

One of Sunderland City Council's dumbest ideas and they are many! why don't they just admit that they do not want anything to do with the Houghton Area of the City, apart from us paying the Council Tax and getting nothing in return. how can increasing traffic to and through Houghton be a good idea? And for the cost of other solutions, have this pathetic council not just got millions from selling loads of land.

What a ridiculous idea. Why does it need to be closed? Why not implement a traffic calming scheme leading up to the junction from both directions slowing traffic down approaching it? It is much better at present with the grass verge now gone and replaced with the tarmac meaning visiblity has increased. But closing the junction will just result in more traffic using houghton town centre and increasing times for the emergency services etc...!!!!

It is much better at present with the grass verge now gone and replaced with the tarmac meaning visiblity has increased. But closing the junction will just result in more traffic using houghton town centre and increasing times for the emergency services etc...!!!!
