On Jan 7, 2015 at 6:30pm, the Aliso Viejo City Council will meet to vote whether to allow alcohol to be served at the Edwards Aliso Viejo Stadium Theater. As concerned parents and neighbors, we must make our voices heard.

Why we care about keeping our theater alcohol-free:

- We support a family-friendly theater, which isa safe environment for kids and teenagers.
- We care about teenage accessibility or early exposure to alcohol.
- We advocate protecting teenagers, balancing vs.a corporation's desire to increase profits. There are other ways for theaters to improve revenues without risking children.
- There are other easy waysfor adults who want to watch a movie and drink, such as the Cinepolis Luxury Cinema in Laguna Niguel.
- Unlike an open restaurant, a theater is a unique environment. The rooms are dark and patrons are in close quarters. Once a movie starts, it is hard to imagine anyone closely patrolling.
- Parents should not have the burden of worrying if a movie theater is being secured or monitored.

This is one of the last safe places where we can go as a family or to drop our teenagers off to have fun with their friends. Let's do our part to keep it that way!

I understand the theatre wanting to compete with other theaters in the area. The first and foremost thing to come to mind is parents are fooling themselves if they think that a movie theatre having or not having alcohol is going to have an influence on your kid. Try school, friends, dances, parties, sleepovers, etc. Why not protest California Adventure? There is alcohol served directly inside the park! Kids have to walk through downtown Disney, bars everywhere! Rubios in Aliso Viejo AND Tony Pepperonis both serve alcohol and droves of little kids in soccer uniforms stroll in all day Saturday. What about their OWN parents drinking at home? The entire thing is ridiculous and alcohol in the theatre will only be a positive and keep our theatre updated.

I have lived in Aliso Viejo for 6 years. I have three kids. One thing that attracted us to Aliso was that it is touted as a young families community. I don't want to take my kids to the movies if there will be drunk people there. I don't want to deal with it and I don't want my kids to see it. I also don't want date night to be ruined by it. If I want to go somewhere rowdy that's one thing. If I want to go somewhere quiet, I'll go to the movies.
