WE NEED YOU! Support your local community in opposing the proposal of a crematorium at the former Bannockburn Hospital site. (This petition is restricted to residents who live within the Stirling Council area only).
A planning application for a crematorium on the former Bannockburn hospital site has been submitted to Stirling Council on the 25th of August 2017. Although Stirlingshire could benefit from its own crematorium this is most definitely NOT the right site.
Reasons -
* It lies within the eastern side of Stirlingshire, a short distance from the current crematorium at Camelon. It would be much more logical to have it on the western side of Stirling to serve outlying areas not already within close proximity to a crematorium.
* The site itself is a pinnacle surrounded by working farm fields and both the A9 (Falkirk Rd) and the A91 (Pirnhall Rd) which are exceptionally busy with a phenomenal volume of traffic. The A9 is the main route to FV Royal Hospital from Stirlingshire and there is a lorry refuelling depot across from the site. Trucks will leave the M9 motorway to refuel and return to the motorway using the A91.
* The site lies around 300 metres from several large housing developments not to mention the other properties adjacent to the site. There are still concerns regarding possible air pollution and therefore this site is not appropriate so close to a dense residential area.
* Bannockburn House is currently being purchased and the Trust hope to develop this as a wedding venue amongst other visitor facilities. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon highlighted its value as a tourist attraction and as such it would not be appropriate to have a crematorium within such close proximity.

The energy behind this opposition has grown enough that the council cannot ignore our presence anymore. Post the link to your local Facebook community pages and email your Stirling Council representative today to demand they reject the site.

the site is too close to bannockburn village,and will cause congestion on the road to forth valley hospital, where ambulances could be held up,manor powis on the alloa road would be less disruptive.
Stirling does need a crematorium but not just a few miles and on the same route as the one currently used in Camelon. This would in no way help the people living in the north and west of Stirling District.
Always thought the land was donated by the people of Bannockburn for the purpose of building a hospital therefore the land should be returned to the community
I object to this facility being on this site. Road is regularly used by ambulances on route to FOrth Valley hospital and it would be very undignified for a funeral cortege to have to pull up to let them pass. Very busy access roads off the Bannockburn roundabout which are regularly blocked up as it is. Far to close to farm land and surrounding properties. The land was gifted to the people of Bannockburn and should be returned to commuity ownership. It is also far to close to the historic Bannockburn House and the historic Battle of Bannockburn sites. Not the right place for this facility. I am also concerned about the environmental impacts.
I oppose this site being used as a crematorium. Ambulances regularly fly up and dien this road. It is a busy roundabout for access to the motorways. It is in middle of farm land. Crematoriums are one of the worst polluters. It is too close to main housing estate at Gartclush Gardens. Funeral corteges deserve more respect than this over busy access road will provide.
I like close and oppose this fully.

Too close to residential property. Roundabout at former hospital site is extremely busy and not suitable for funeral cortege traffic. Too close to historic site of Battle of Bannockburn. Too close to community owned Bannockburn House. Too close to farm land and HGV truck stop. Not a good site for this facility. Ground was gifted to the people of Bannockburn and we do not want it used in this way. Also have conerns over air pollution.
