The board has been silent since I first initiated this request for a special meeting. Their lack of response is telling but we are not going anywhere until they address the future of our club memberships.

The momentum behind this request proves that many of us feel the same frustration regarding the direction of our club. Seeing so many members step forward provides the strength we need to finally press the board for a special meeting.

I agree there must be a better and fairer way to move forward with this. More senior members with no interest (or fitness) to play golf will not pay the extra to become full members which will cut off their access to what may be a huge part of their lives.
My wife and I have been Club AM for 22 years and agree this is no way to treat us . We disagree with recalling Ass Membership and the one option offered to remain with Sawgrass which anyone walking in off the street could pay the $50K to be a member . We have met with the membership director and sent a letter to Club President with our shock at this treatment .
I had sent a letter to the Board via Pres. Brantley and the Membership Chair re their email 'letter' of the 13th.... conveying my displeasure of this unkind and yes, harsh, action taken toward the Associate members.. who the Country Club was in 'clear need' of...and now wish to discard.. A 2nd email letter received on 10/1 ...to be answered.
This is criminal.
Hopefully a solution can be achieved that respects past Associate contributions/equity and future Sawgrass CC success/fiscal integrity.
Must be a better way.
I hope we can compromise amicably.

It seems harsh not to apply an actuarial plus years with the Club as a score for how long the member has before leaving. At age 81 with 17 years as an Associate member 3 months notice is unreasonable. Naturally, a non sports couple at 81 years old will not pay the 35,000 for a full membership
