Fife Council plans to get rid of the open air car park situated behind Tolbooth Street in Kirkcaldy. Do you believe this will discourage people visiting Kirkcaldy High Street If so, please sign this petition and help support the cause to reverse the decision. Thank you for your support. Please encourage friends and family to sign the petition too.

Updates

November 19, 2009

I have submitted a formal request for a meeting with the Kirkcaldy area committee members to discuss the economic impact of removing this parking provision. We are currently compiling the feedback from local business owners to present as evidence during that session.

The growth of this petition shows that the community recognizes the necessity of keeping the Tolbooth Street parking accessible. I am finalizing a formal request for a meeting with the Fife Council planning department to present these concerns directly.

The high street is dead enough as it is. Where the hell are people supposed to park if they close this down? Another genius move by the council.

Ridiculous idea. I go to the shops there weekly and that car park is always busy enough. They are just trying to kill off the town center completely.

Always handy to have that spot right behind the shops. Makes it so much easier for older folks to get around.

We need this lot open. If they build over it no one will ever bother coming into town for a quick shop again. It will just be empty shops everywhere.

KIRKCALDY IS DYING. Keep the parking so businesses have a fighting chance.
