The council has officially decided to keep the site open and maintained at current hours. I am drained from the fight but deeply grateful that we held our ground together. We will keep watching to ensure they actually follow through on this promise.
We the undersigned call upon Essex County Council to retain the Civic Amenity Site in Perry Road, Witham, Essex, ( locally known as 'The Dump') in its current format and not to significantly reduce its opening hours. We also request Braintree District Council to use its best endeavours to prevent such closure or significant reduction in opening hours.
The council remains silent on our requests for a formal meeting about the Perry Road site. It is exhausting to keep pushing against a wall of indifference but I am not walking away from this fight.

Seeing this kind of movement confirms that people are finally noticing just how much we rely on this site. The days feel long and the process is draining but this level of backing keeps me going.

This is ridiculous. Everyone in Witham uses this place. Where are we supposed to take our rubbish now?

Council tax keeps going up but we get less services every year. Totally fed up with this lot.

The queues are already long enough on weekends. Cutting hours will just cause huge traffic jams on the main road.

Absolute joke. They just want us to flytip so they can fine us for it. Disgraceful.
