County Commissioners. Do what you did with the new Gulf Gate library. You found a temporary location at the Westgate Mall on rt#41. Chess was played there.

Can not some wise person understand the problem, instead of a nee jerk reaction to closed and demolish? Could the carpet be removed and tile replace the carpet at a much lower cost and shorter time than demolishing the existing building and constructing a new building?

Sarasota County should put together and implement a transition plan before closing the current library. Closing the current library before having a new site up and running is not in the best interest of Venice area residents. Why all of a sudden does the current library have to be closed ? It has been this way for many years.

To close the library abruptly without firm plans and schedule is a knee-jerk reaction by week officials.

I believe that the problems with the library were inadequately handled. More publicity and information should have been provided several years ago -- when the mold problems were first found. As matters now stand, public input and concerns have not been taken into account.

Common sense tells us that the library should not be closed until a suitable site is available to accommodate the thousands of residents that use the present building

Residents on the Island need access to the library for more than checking out books. They need newspaper and WiFi access as well as the social interactions. Many walk to the library because they don't have cars.

We are concerned about the lack of a reasoned explanation for what appears to be a haphazard approach to the mold problemand the potential shut down of the library. by the various public bodies. There does not seem to be an emergency situation so a a well planned temporary and permanent solution should be undertaken and communicated to the public in a timely manner.

I was so sad when I heard the news of the library's closing. Every time I've been to the library, it has been full of people. We are new to the island. One of the reasons we decided to settle here was there is a public library on the island. Libraries are the heart of our communities. We need one ON the island.

Keep it open until final plans are drawn. Ultimately, the library should remain as part of the Community Center, Art Center Campus.

This structure should remain open until a suitable temporary replacement has been found. It is far too important for the community that surrounds it.

The library is an integral part of downtown Venice. Until a temporary site is found and there is public input to a solution, nothing should be done.
