Closing the library is a bad idea! If the building is contaminated then find a new place to locate!

Besides, what else would the land be used for? More condos? Keep the land in the public domain, like the community center.

This plan to close the library was NOT thought out well and should not be implemented.

Ok. So I think that the existing building should be demolished, and a new one built in its place. The mold is pervasive, and not good for the staff or the books. Just do it right. Could take two years or more, but where else could/should it be located? There is no better location. Take the time and do it right.

The location of the library is so convenient for the residents of Venice and it has served the community so well . I strongly urge the powers that be to gut it if you must and rebuild it. I am definitely against another building in another location. I would more than happy to pay a special tax assessment to refurbish the building and keep it at its present location. v residentsofand it has served the comm

The Venice Library has been a bustling place since I was in high school there in the 1980s. (Newer building now.) FIX THE MOLD PROBLEM. Gut the place if you have to, but put in place a plan to rebuild - don't just shut it down.

Not allowing public comment at a FLA government meeting is against FLA law .

It makes sense to keep it open until a new location is available

I heard that the county didn't get serious about the mold problem until they found mold growing on the piano. Then they closed the meeting room and changed the locks. So what kind of mold is growing in the library? Is it toxic? What is the county doing for the staff who have been exposed to this mold?

There is something wrong with the speed of closing the library? The county has known about the mold problem for years. Shame on the county for not taking proper maintenance steps on this building. Go into Selby library and you will smell mold too. I wonder how long it will take for that library to be closed. Shame on the county. Shame on the management of the libraries for letting the Venice library fall into such disrepair.

This library is always swamped. Looks a land grap to me.

I read three books a week and walk to the library one to two times a week. Closing it would greatly change my life style.
