When in Venice I spend a few hours each day at the library. Unless there is clear evidence of environmental danger (as is the case today in Flint, Michigan), I suggest we keep the library open until the site and building of a new library is determined.

I just moved here. The library helped me. The staff was very nice and helpful. Libraries help a lot of people. Please save this nice library.
Try moldstat plus. I thought the library was clean.I didn't see or smell any mold. Poor people need libraries and librarians to help us computer illiterate people.

I bought a condo on the island so I could walk to library, post office, shops, etc. Please keep library in same general location.

I haven't seen a building that could not be fixed and I think it would be better to fix the problem than abandon it and build elsewhere. I just moved to Venice and from an outsiders point of view, it seems a little shady. There's got to be something more to this.

Libraries are a large part of the fabric of our community. The library educates, informs and to have a building for 50 years and now close it sounds like a scam to get the land and use it for other purposes then in the public interest.

The sudden closing of the library demonstrates a very disturbing lack of planning and leadership. Since you've known about the problem for so long, why haven't you made an effort to find an appropriate temporary substitute.

My husband and I find the library the magnet in our trips downtown. We live off the island and love biking to the library for hours spent reading, researching, meeting with clubs and user groups. Don't take this important resource away from our community! Find a way to seal the flooring or something. Neither of us has ever noticed mold on surfaces, in the air, etc. and have begun to wonder if there's some kind of local conspiracy.

Please find a way to keep the library in Venice! The last three directors of the library system have all come from the Venice Library. I can't imagine the island of Venice without a library; it wouldn't be the same!

Please postpone the closing until a temporary location is found. Preferably keep the same location for all of our residents who count on this library.
