It's premature to close it with no obvious adverse affects before an alternative is available to the public.

Please listen to the people of Venice. I know several High school students and parents that rely on the Library as a safe place to do home work and read until their parents get off work and pick them up. There are so many reasons that this hasty decision to close such an important community resource is the WRONG decision. Please leave the library open until a replacement can be built on the adjacent property.

Thank you to the person(s) that started this petition to give residents of Sarasota County a “voice” regarding the closing of the Venice Public Library. The library is a vibrant educational element for south county residents. The Venice Library is unique in that it’s within walking/biking distance for many residents, students, business owners and employees. If a new structure is necessary (which I’m not convinced that it is), I think it should be built near the existing building since the Venice Community Center/Art Center/Museum & Historical Center are part of the cultural campus and use the existing building as a parking lot.

Surely, there must be an intelligent company that can pinpoint the source of the mold.

why can't the mold be cleaned out instead of tearing down the building and putting up a new one? it sounds like a certain construction company was promised a favor.

We need a book mobile brought in immediately! Also faster selection of the temporary location. I would like to suggest the old Smittys on 41. There is pretty good parking there and it hasn't made it as a nightclub.

Whoever let this library deteriorate to this state should be fired. How fiscally irresponsible with county property. Total lack of management.

Please postpone the closing of the Venice Public library until a new location can be opened. I rely on it heavily for work and personal use.

I believe that libraries are the most important community resource for both children and adults. This seems like a highhanded response to what may be a problem. Why not isolate this room and keep the rest of the library open while either trying to fix this library or, if it can't be fixed, building a new library.

The library is the heart of the community. That it could be closed with apparent little or no foresight as to the implications and contingencies is, frankly, tragic

This is a waste of tax payer dollars relocating our Library.
Manage the problem.
This is part of an entire a Community Center
This whole thing smells of special interests.

The Library is known to all; and should stay at it's present location. It is a center. Arts - Library & Community..
Why waste tax payer dollars relocating it..?
Renovate and clean the existing space.
If there is a problem at another new location will the solution be to Waste more tax dollars and move again..?
Who is making $ on this ...???

We must keep a library on the island!
The decision to close this without a real plan to deal with the needs of the public is outrageous!

This library is a second home to many.
We need to continue serving our community.
