We purchased a home 2 years ago based on location close to venice library. I frequent atleast 2x a week and it is always busy. Please do not close without a plan in place to assess problems, repair, and keep open in same location. Thank you

Keep library open until an alternate island location can be opened. Think of the children and the people of this town for a change.

This library is so busy. They really need to keep it open until they find a suitable place for another library.

After school I always walk over to the library, because my parents can't pick me up until around 5. They don't feel comfortable letting me take the bus, because my old bus driver was a convicted pedophile in different state.

The County has avoided due diligence in informing it's citizens by giving a mere 4 days notice to attend and make public comment on this matter. Nor have they given any valid reason for the rush to close in a non emergency situation.

I have lived in Venice since 1964. I went to the Venice Public Library every day after school and each weekend. It was my home away from home. Please keep not only a very important landmark but an institution of learning for all. Thank you Sàndy Menden

We love our library and staff! We've enjoyed many activities and reading their books with our children for almost 4 years now.

Love Venice Library! Please find a site to reopen ASAP and with the current wonderful staff and hardworking volunteers, oh yes, and Roland's great programs! The same area would be great as it is a gathering place for Venetians next to the arts center and community center. Why not hold fund raisers? We love and need this library.

This closing, with almost no public input or notice AND in the middle of the season is an absolute travesty.

Brilliant stroke of genius: close the Venice Library on February 1 in the middle of peak season. Positively brilliant!

I love this place! Fix this mess... Why wasn't their a public hearing on the matter? Also for mold it doesn't need to be closed indefinitely just long enough to get a crew in and spray for mold.

Delay the closing until a temporary facility is up and running ON VENICE ISLAND. There is no urgent health concern as regards the mold issue.

Understandably, it is a liability for Sarasota County to continue to operate the library at the current location. However, there should have been a contingency plan to maintain library services for the City of Venice without significant delay to patrons. Hopefully, Sarasota County, The City of Venice, and potentially private partnership is likely the best prospect to open a full service temporary City of Venice Library sooner than later.

We need a library on the island.

Even the health dept. states there is no significant danger of mold to patrons. Surely a few months to deliberate more would not be a problem

I would sign a waiver stating I would not sue the city if mold makes me ill. Please let us keep our library while a solution is PUBLICALLY discussed.

It is totally unreasonable to close the downtown Venice Library until a suitable location for either a temporary or permanent replacement facility is found. This library means a lot to the people of Venice, and to have a vote to close it in such haste without input from voters who have a stake in this matter is abhorrent.
