We use this Library on basically a daily basis and have for over the 8 years that we've lived on Venice Island.
Let's address the fixing of the mold problem instead of closing the facility. It should be much cheaper to do this after investigation of the origin of the problem.
At the very least, don't relocate the Library off of Venice Island!!

This Petition is far too difficult to find. It should have a space of its own. I spent a long time trying to access it

Something doesn't jibe here...they can fix the community center by installing tile floors, but the library has to be demolished? Sorry, Charlie (Hines)- don't worry about 'stopping the panic'.

I feel very strongly that we need a library on Venice island. Ideally in the present location, after the mold is remediated.

This petition was VERY difficult to find .... who would think it had to be found in the TEXT of the newspaper article. It should be readily available with its own apt. I tried to find the Petition for 15 minutes before TRYING the text of the article .........

Venice definitely needs a library. They just rebuilt Gulf Gate. If the mold issue can't be remedied, the library should be demolished and rebuilt in present location.

Find a temporary site first, then close the library while you evaluate to current building and find the source of the mold. Don't be hasty with no solution!

Several years ago, the county closed and then quietly tore down a "Green" office building at Twin Lakes Park because of mold issues not long after it had been extensively renovated at great expense to taxpayers. There has been no public accountability for that fiasco and apparently nothing was learned. Citizen involvement will be critical in finding a reasonable solution to the library's sudden closing announcement.

Keep present library open until temporary one - on the island - can be found.
Build new library on same campus with Art Ctr, Community Ctr, and Historic Bldg.
Don't diminish one of the best grouping of human resources Venice has - by moving off campus.

Im sure there must be a less drastic solution to the mold problem than closing our library.the library is an intragal part of life on the island
