The Award Winning Ploughman pub in Werrington, Peterborough is under threat of demolition by the Tesco redevelopment. Planning permission has already been granted for the development but recently Tesco amended the plans to retain the petrol station which is next to the pub. We believe that with another small variation in the plans the pub can be saved.

Since the current landlord, Andy Simmonds has been in charge the pub has been changed from a run down pub with many social problems to an award winning community pub. Earlier this year the pub was awarded the coveted CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2011 for its reintroduction of a wide range of real ales. The pub is the only freehouse in the area and has raised thousands of pounds for local charities. Live music has been introduced as well as poker evenings. The pub is used continuously be local groups who use the nearby sports centre. The pub also looks after 4 darts teams, a crib team and a pool team.

We urge you all to sign our petition so that we can send a clear message to Tesco. We need this pub to stay part of the local community.
