The Clean Water Act of 1977 was put into effect to protect this nations water and in 1978 a provision was signed by both the United States and Canada. The problem is that The Clean Water Act isn\'t be enforced to the fullest. Like many, as a child I have many memories of being at the Chicago Lakefront, swimming in the beaches, being on my fathers boat. There will be no fishing, no swimming at the beach, no jumping off the end of the boat. As of right now, 3,600 facilities exceed their permits and there are more than 24,400 accidence of the Clean Water Act. In Chicago alone 30 beaches were closed. We have to fight this problem because it won\'t go away.
