The Empire Drive-in is officially protected as a historic property. I am honestly stunned that this worked out and I know this belongs entirely to you for refusing to let our history fade away.
Empire Theatres (Sobeys) plans to sell the drive in on the Truro Road as real estate. This leaves them or the new owners free to bulldoze what is left of a one of Pictou County's most historic landmarks.
Built in 52' it has survived a fire that burned down the main screen in 1969 as well as many other hardships that could have surely closed it. This petition is to solidify the drive-in as a treasure of Pictou County and maintain its appearance and hopefully operation as a drive-in.
I honestly never imagined we would hit one hundred signatures this quickly. It is truly humbling to see so many people who care about saving our drive-in as much as I do.

Have fond memories of playing in the playground prior to the movie started.
