I am opposed to the Board’s approval of the Dutra Asphalt Proposal. It is the wrong location to build and operate an asphalt factory at Haystack Landing because it will degrade a recreation and wildlife asset, Shollenberger Park and negatively impact the adjacent residences, business park, and wetlands. The citizens of the Sonoma County and Petaluma have a right to protect the public’s assets, which we paid for through our taxes, from industrial noise, noxious odors, dangerous fine particulate pollution and diesel truck exhaust of 147,000 trucks per year servicing this factory.
I ask you to preserve and protect the Gateway to Sonoma County and our open space, specifically by enforcing all conditions required of Dutra for construction and operation of this factory.

I was just looking at the counter and it is inching up toward that twenty-five hundred mark which is honestly wild since I remember when it was just me and a few neighbors worrying about the trucks (seriously those diesel fumes are no joke). If you could send the link out to a group chat or post it somewhere right now while the momentum feels real that would be incredible because we really need to keep this moving before anyone gets the wrong idea.

I have been staring at these maps of the park and the industrial site all morning because it keeps hitting me how absurd it is to put a factory right next to where we walk our dogs. My inbox is full of messages from neighbors who are just as worried as I am about the air quality and the truck routes so I am currently putting together a folder for the Supervisors to show them that this really is a terrible idea for our community.

The environmental impact on wildlife and the river speaks for itself. Also compelling is the hugely negative impact this plant has on the economic viability of our charming downtown, its preservation as an historic site and tourist destination— but also on the value of our homes and neighborhoods which we have worked so hard to bring back from the doldrums of the early 1980s. Please allow common sense, not greed, to prevail.
NO NO NO - Petaluma does NOT want an ASPHALT plant to be part of what makes us famous. It is NOT what Petaluma represents! HORRID environmental blight - to our water, to our habitat, to our environment, visually, economically, physically. GROSS! GROSS! GROSS!
Why is the world would anyone agree to this baffles me still. Beautiful wetlands preserved for our community, along a cute river front and slam an asphalt plant in the middle of it. Think of our environment, our town, the people and our kids BEFORE CORPORATE MONEY. I hope city Council listens to the People who voted.. I personally will never vote for anyone who approves this plan and will hope no one else will either. Good bye political people who don't follow the voice of the people.

I am horrified that this plant could soon be upwind of my new home. As an environmental scientist and asthma patient I beg you to act now. Choosing to ignore the City of Petaluma's request was not the right thing to do as you well know. Please correct this wrong asap.
