On the 11th of April 2011, a new law will come into effect in the UK, which will mean that the safe herbal medicines we can now get from health food shops and herbal practitioners will disappear off the shelves. Herbalists will still be able to dispense herbal medicines they have grown, collected and made up, to their patients, but the efficacy of these is not guarunteed like the manufactured ones. This will mean that lots of people will turn to the internet and import products which have no gauruntee of safety. The government are trying to get rid of herbal medicines which was the percussor of all orthodox medicines by pushing it out the back door like this. Consequently practitioners livelihoods are at stake and patients lives are at risk. Please sign our petition to stop this law from being brought in, until proper provision is made. This law has been rushed, and not well thought out, and people will suffer ! Again the UK is becoming more like a nanny state, and witholding peoples human right to choice, and to make these health choices themselves.
