P.S 118-Lorraine Hansbury School Ouster of Principal CYNTHIA OFORI-FEASTER

We are asking for the removal
and dismissal of an unworthy New York City Board of
Education personnel, Ms.Cynthia Ofori-Feaster, Principal at the Lorraine B.
Hansberry
Elementary School (P.S 118) in Queens. Prior to Ms.Ofori-Feaster being appointed to
P.S118 as Principal. The school held an “A+”educational
rating, unfortunately since her two (2) years at this school, the school’s
rating has been decreased to an “F”and this is unacceptable! How can this be allowed in this country, in the year
2012, a Principal authorizes the bathroom doors to be locked and water to be
turned off during school hours? These
children are young and need access to the facilities when the need warrants. We
are not in a country without Laws Regulations and these acts are not legal. The
environment our children are surrounded in also place a great deal of emphasis on
how they react to what they are being taught. Example, Ms.Ofori-Feaster frequently degrades and belittles the teachers in the presence of the students as well as, disciplining faculty over the PA system. These teachers are working in a very hostile environment, so many of these teachers are looking to leave there positions at this school but they continue to endure the abuse for the sake of the children. How are these children suppose to show respect to these teachers when they themselves are not being shown respect by the Principal of the school. We have called upon the New York City Board of Education to please
take some action in regards to our charges against Ms. Ofori-Feaster and have
been told to give them until the end of the year. Personally as caring parents
that is too long of a wait and too much of a detriment to our children’s safety
and education. This school needs proper guidance which it is not receiving,
there are too many unanswered questions such as funds being reported missing,
signatures appearing unauthorized, how long will this be allowed to continue?
We are asking everyone to please help us fight for our children and to send a
clear
message to the Department of Education that we are not going to stand by and
watch
our school continue on this path!
Please
join us in saying Ms. Cynthia Ofori-Feaster you have
unfortunately served your time and you must now go, our
children & school deserve better!
