Mikhail Lennikov is a Russian immigrant who has been living in Burnaby for the past 12 years with his wife, Irina, and son, Dmitri. Mikhail, a former KGB (the Russian secret police mostly active during the cold war and disbanded in 1995) agent who left the organization, has been ordered deported back to Russia on account of his posing a "security threat" to Canada. His deportation deadline has passed, and he is currently taking refuge in his lower mainland church on sanctuary grounds to avoid being forced to return to the homeland- there he is considered a traitor and will likely face prosecution and possible violence for his past abandonment of the secret police.
By signing this petition you are stating that you believe Mikhail Lennikov has the right to remain in Canada with his family where he can continue creating the safer, peaceful life he originally came to our country to live. You are also stating that you believe while convicted criminals and gangsters are allowed to stay in Canada, we should not be prosecuting the immigrants who have retained a clean criminal record in Canada, and that Canada is a country of acceptance, new beginnings and refuge for those in need, and should remain as such.
This family has been here for twelve years and are part of the community now. Forced deportation is cruel when he has been a law abiding resident the whole time.

Let the man stay. He built a life here with his wife and kid. Why are we targeting him when actual criminals walk free everyday? Makes no sense.

Please dont send him back to certain death. Canada is supposed to be a place of refuge. Have some heart.
