The Wessex Association of Chambers of Commerce are supporting the North Wiltshire town Chambers of Commerce in their campaign to prevent Lyneham from becoming and economic wasteland. The economic impact to the North Wiltshire businesses and community at large will have a devasting effect. Our aim is to encourage the strategic defence review (which meets in October) to seriously consider filling the economic void by relocating other smaller military supply bases and a return base for troops returning from Germany to Lyneham.

Wootton Bassett, Lyneham, Calne, Malmesbury, Corsham, Cricklade, Melksham, Chippenham and other North Wiltshire communities suffer economically, with estimates of up to a 50% loss in trade for our towns that could turn this area into an economic wasteland. It will seriously affect all our lives.

The army wants to merge some of the smaller technical bases in Wiltshire. What better place for them to come to than Lyneham? A base big enough to take the amalgamation and have room for returning troops from Germany. It makes economic and geographical sense - and saves our towns.

Write for support to North Wiltshire MP - James Gray, and put your name to both our Twitter, and Facebook campaigns on `Lyneham Needs You`.

Makes sense to move the army here instead of leaving it empty. stop the madness.

Lyneham is the heart of the area. if the base goes everything dies. please keep the military here!
