The historic Johnny Harris restaurant and surrounding property, including Wicklow Farms, was recently sold to Atlanta-based developers ARS Ventures, and rezoned for commercial development. We are petitioning the developers to preserve the historic Johnny Harris Restaurant building and develop the surrounding property in a way that is in line with the historic identity and beauty of Savannah, GA.

By signing this petition you demand ARS Ventures leave the Johnny Harris building intact and in place and any new development follows a sustainable and walkable, "town square" urban design.

This will result in the preservation of a a piece of Savannah historic architecture, the urban design will reduce traffic congestion and increase pedestrian and bicycle access.

Let's keep Savannah unique, beautiful, and historically preserved.

Please save my hometown and Savannah's history. There is the only horse stable that I could have had the means of growing up at, when I was a child. Wicklow saved my life as a child. Johnny Harris is one of the few restaurants that I always recommend for tourist to see and eat at when in Savannah. So unique, such a blessing these places of the Savannah were. Now Savannah for the most part will be the same as other new cities it seems. So sad all the changes in this world.

A picture hangs in the entry way to Johnny Harris. It is my husband's father who was bartender there for many years in the 40s. His name was Red Dukes. We also ate there after funerals, graduations, marriages etc. etc. My mother went to dance in the ball room in the 40s. Please do not tear down another historic building that means so much to us. We live in Atlanta.

We strongly recommend the preservation of the historic Johnny Harris restaurant. It is a Savannah " institution" for both locals and tourists alike.
