The Board of County Commissioners officially voted to reject the privatization proposal during this afternoon's session. We have secured the retention of our current public service structure and staff commitments. I will monitor the upcoming budget adjustments to ensure these service protections remain in place.
As a citizen of Frederick County, I support keeping our Frederick County Government a public institution - not a private contracting business, keeping our public servants - not 'outsourcing' or 'privatizing' them, and supporting our downtown businesses that depend on the 5th largest employer in Frederick County.
I support looking at efficiencies, but not 'privatization'. I support researching alternative ways of saving tax payer dollars that do not contribute to higher unemployment and doing it in a much more deliberative and thoughtful manner.
I respectfully ask the Frederick County BOCC to oppose the privatization of county jobs and programs that serve our citizens, most especially the most vulnerable in our community.
I am standing up for Frederick!
The scale of this response is compelling and I have finalized a formal request to meet with the Board of County Commissioners. My focus is now on preparing the specific economic data that refutes the privatization proposal for our next session.

This is ridiculous. Frederick deserves better than this.

Totally agree. Stop trying to turn everything into a profit machine and start thinking about the actual residents.

Enough with the privatization. My husband works for the county and we are sick of the constant threats to his livelihood.

Keep our jobs local. Outsourcing this stuff just hurts the whole county in the long run.

We need to protect the public servants who actually help people in this town. Privatizing is a huge mistake.
