The Board of Education finally backed down and scrapped their pathetic outsourcing plan. Our cafeteria staff keeps their jobs and the kids keep their familiar meals because we refused to let the suits push us around. Keep watching them because we know they will try to pull this stunt again.
Ellington Board of Education is looking into outsourcing the food service. This will cost taxpayer money and terminate the employment of all the hard working cafeteria employees. Show your support for the Ellington Food Service department by signing the petition today!
The Ellington Board of Education thinks they can sneak this privatization deal past us while nobody is looking. We are about to hit our first hundred signatures so push this link out everywhere right now to show them we are awake and watching.

I support the EPS food staff! We don’t need to outsource to a company that will cost the town over 400,000 dollars! And bring in pre packaged food, what we have now is healthier and is done my caring individuals.
Spend that kind of money to fix and repair our schools, that’s where it’s needed!

They say it is not personal, then it must be financial. How can it be financial when Food Services is a self-operated program? Food Service Management Companies charge fees to the school district on a monthly basis. Wouldn't the fees be better invested to the in-house food services program rather than corporate stockholders pockets?

90% of our food service staff live locally in Ellington. They pay taxes in Ellington. Their kids went to school in Ellington! Keep our small town SMALL! I STRONGLY petition against outsourcing our food service program!!!

Please do not outsource. The schools in Farmington did this and they ended up on national media for the disgusting food they were given and the horrible way they were treated by the people that worked there. Their food should be made by someone who cares about them.

The women in our cafeterias are not only great lunchladies but they also looked after myself and others in high school. They are kind, caring people and the school would be worse off without them

Important jobs for people who live in and care about our town and children. It also employs some folks with disabilities who will have an especially hard time finding new work. Do we really want so many strangers in our schools?
