SERCO want to close Abbey Hill and the 4 other special schools in Stoke on Trent. The proposals state that 3 new units will open and be co-located on main stream High School grounds. The school that has been suggested for Abbey Hill is Birches Head High. Do we want this as parents, staff and governers. There is no mention of any provision for our autistic children. The units will be 'generic' with only 120 places in each. Abbey Hill alone has 211 young people/children. The places will be reduced from 550 to 360. We have are a beacon school with an 'Outstanding' Ofsted Report at Abbey Hill with Performing Arts Status to be proud of.We have dedicated and special staff and special children. WE DO NOT WANT TO LOSE THIS!
We are approaching one thousand signatures as the discussion regarding Abbey Hill School gains momentum. This figure represents a significant threshold for our credibility when we present our concerns to the decision makers. Please direct your contacts to this page so we can secure the necessary weight for our upcoming formal review.

This is ridiculous. 550 places down to 360? Where are these kids supposed to go? Absolute disgrace.

Abbey Hill is an amazing school. My daughter is happy there and she has the support she actually needs. Hands off our school.

Outstanding rating speaks for itself. Stop messing with things that actually work.
